Happy New Year all! We did it – we finally have our first official family portrait. Oh, no, it’s not like I didn’t have three commercial studios and a shooting room in my house throughout the last 12 years…. how could we possibly have used any of those, right? Haha! When you are a professional photographer, you tend to not pick up the camera too much during off time. Now that I have scaled back, I swore that I would get this shot THIS YEAR. Christmas night, it finally happened. Five introverts, some teeth-staining red wine, a beanbag for bad knees, and a remote control for the camera, and this happened…..
I can’t say I’m unhappy to see 2014 end….. I’m very much looking forward to 2015….. a bit of a recap…..and look forward….
Ally, if you do not know, is my 25-year-old stepdaughter on the left in the picture above (I married Dean when she was 5). This year, we have really gotten to see the beautiful woman she has blossomed into. We’ve loved our dinners in Hampden and seeing her enjoy her new house. We are proud of her!
Barrett graduated from high school this year and delve right into college – six months in, and he’s already completed Calculus 1, 2, and miscellaneous programming classes (Yes, he’s our technical-minded one). His path is set to Cyber Security. We love seeing his determination and accomplishments….. He also has the sweetest girlfriend for some time now, and I am dying to get pictures of them together… and will, in the new year!
Erynn is almost 16. She’s our creative. Don’t let that colored hair fool you, good grades came easy for her again this year. Many of you were able to join us for the birth of Pixie, Erynn’s horse Stormy’s foal this past May…. Erynn will be training this spring/summer to start competing with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, while continuing to work with and train little Pixie. We are very excited to see this progress and will be updating progress (now that the holidays are over) on the Erynn & Pixie Blog.
Dean and I have begun a new adventure. With my new accounting position, an opportunity that completely fell in my lap, came the ability to carpool to work during the week. It has allowed us, even after 20 years together, to get to know each other even more. I spent 19 years of my life working full-time businesses of my own. Now I get to experience working for someone else (while I run my photography business part time), and I have to say, I’m very much enjoying it, but I’m especially enjoying the after work drinks and cuddles with Dean…..
On a very personal note, 2014 was a year of disposing of toxic relationships and “cutting the fat” in more ways than one…. downsizing, streamlining, and only focusing on what is most important. I plan to continue this for the new year. 2015 will come with another special accomplishment – my accounting degree will be official this year!
As intended, this blog is about Balance – a little bit of family, a little bit of business, etc….. I look forward to sharing in 2015!
