Love these!

I have a secret –  Okay, I am addicted to finding handmade jewelry on Etsy.  I’ve gotten my daughter involved as well - she is always looking for interesting necklaces whereever we go.  I’m not a big jewelry person, so odd little pieces fascinate me ;)

I purchased this necklace weeks ago, and it traveled from overseas and finally arrived.  I love the delicate details - this image doesn’t really do it justice, but there are hand tied perfect little knots - love the assymetric design.  I went back and bought three more today - couldn’t help it.

Fall color fun…

Cat birdhouse in my front yard.  Dean brought it home for me years ago, and I never put it outside until now… I kinda like it out here…

I’m embracing the vignette of this image. This will probably be the last time I shoot with the sigma 10-20 lens for a while. My 12-24/2.8 Nikkor is on it’s way. What I do like about the Sigma 10-20 is that it was inexpensive, but it is not meant to be on the Nikon D3 - it will vignette (pretty badly at 10 mm, but can be embraced at 20 mm). I’m looking forward to trying out the 12-24 this weekend :)

Vignette

We’re back, studio is reopened.

We are back from Orlando.  I will try to post some pictures soon that I took down there.  I do have to say if I never fly again, I will be just fine with that.  It is so unnatural to be in an airplane, and I just really really do not like it.  We didn’t arrive until a lot later than I expected last night because we were delayed due to weather.  I am happy that Maryland missed the snow, however ;)
A review on that big rolling bag - don’t waste your money.  My poor husband who was only three weeks postop ended up having to lug that thing around everywhere because the wheel base was too narrow so you couldn’t roll it without it falling over.  My husband is reinjured from doing so, and I hope and pray that he does not have to have surgery again.   Why didn’t I carry it?  Because we were both carrying half of what we had with us.  I offered to make several trips myself with this stuff, but he insisted on helping.  *sigh*  Love him for the effort, though.

Packing up for Orlando.

[To my clients:  Please be aware - the studio is closed until January 14th - emails and phone calls will be returned then.]

photography equipment Here we are, the first two bags are packed and ready to be taken out to my vehicle.  Destination:  Orlando - to teach studio lighting at a workshop.   This is only my equipment (minus camera and lenses).  One of my bags is like 100 pounds!!!  I’m not sure how that works at the airport.

Speaking of airports, I am scared, yes, scared, to take this flight.  Everywhere that I have traveled for shoots, I have driven, as I do have a fear of flying.  I have not flown since I was 16 years old.  Thankfully my husband will be coming with me.

But back to the bags - I purchased these two, and I am sure fellow photographers would like a review ;)
First one:  This is the long skinny one above - SP-Systems 48″ Tripod/Lightstand Bag.  In this bag, I have managed to fit a softliter, a collapsible softbox, a fold up Larson reflector, one heavy duty lightstand, two medium light stands, and poles for my softboxes.  Whew, yeah…

Second one:  This is the Interfit/Paterson All in One Roller Bag.  This is the super heavy one.  In this bag is four light heads, one medium light stand, a 4×6 soft box, and a 2×4 softbox as well as misc items for shooting newborns, speed rings, and all the cords for the lighting.

There’s more to be packed!

Being Green

I recently did a product shoot involving Blue House located in Baltimore.  I have to say, the store is absolutely beautiful and filled with healthy living products that are organic and/or environmentally friendly.  Go visit them in Baltimore City near Fells Point.
