Newborns and more newborns! This is a big time of year for newborns. This week and next, we have a lot of them coming to the studio!

This is a very special boy that completely touched my heart. He is battling leukemia. M is completely in our prayers, and I think about him daily. He and his sister are so sweet, and I enjoyed every minute with them.

I have been so busy the past few months, and I would at least like to share a few portrait posts today. I have had the pleasure of photographing quite a few NFL players, their wives, and their children in the past few months. Thank you all for your kind words and referrals, it is very much appreciated, and it has been an honor to work with you, and to be working with you all as your precious little ones are born in the upcoming months ![]()

The studio is closed and will reopen on Tuesday. All emails and phone calls will be returned at that time. Thank you!
Today is my birthday
and I decided to take advantage of my kids being off of school, and we spent the day at the stable. We had a good time, but I didn’t ride my big Percheron/Thoroughbred cross because I spent about three hours cleaning him, and frankly, I am scared to fall. Why am I scared to fall? I’m not sure, because when I got home, I ended up falling down our stairs… AGAIN. How many times have I fallen down my stairs? hmmm… once when my son was 9 months old, I fell while holding him… slid right down. He was fine. When my daughter was around 6 months old, I fell down, same deal. A couple years ago, I fell down my unfinished basement stairs by stepping on a cat toy (a ball), and my feet flew out from under me… sustained a concussion that time. About a month or two ago, I slid down the steps AGAIN… and now today. Stepped down on the first step, hadn’t seen the cat lying there, and my feet flew out from under me, and I slid… all. the. way. down. After I regrouped, and found I have bruises and scratches but didn’t hit my head this time (yay! ;)), I told my kids they could laugh if they wanted to… cause really… it was pretty funny…. ![]()
so anyway, something you do NOT want to see when you arrive at the stable - that your favorite horse, just rolled in the mud…

Barrett, then Barrett on Willow - Willow is making a big deal out of a foot high jump *sigh* and Erynn on Stormy going over a 2 foot jump - looks like Erynn may have to go back to English riding if she wants to pursue jumping!

Just some images I took around the farm…

There are some outstanding phone calls and emails that will be returned today. After being stuck inside yesterday in Northern Maryland due to the ice, and power outage, I’ve had a setback on getting my taxes ready for the accountant today, so I’m working hard to get it all together, to get back to some normalcy.
Sharing some personl stuff… cause I know some of my readers will get a laugh out of this…
I was up late last night, and grumpy as heck, because I was working on tax stuff… just annoyed, that’s all, you know how it is…. I feel guilty for being in such a bad mood… cause I came down to my messy home office this morning at 5 a.m., rubbing the sleep from my eyes, to find a box full of Starbucks stuff wrapped wtih a bow, and a note, that said….
Happy Valentines Day! I waited all week.
I know that chocolate is what you seek.
Follow my clues, it should be easy.
And you can eat candy until you get queasy.I’ll keep this short, it’ll be a breeze
Your next stop could make you freeze.
So I go up to the kitchen, look in the freezer, and there is another note….
You made it this far, that’s good to know
This Valentine is quite a show.
Your next clue won’t take a week
Find those things that cover your cheeks.
Of course! his underwear drawer!!! Just like a man *wink*
I go up to the bedroom, open his underwear drawer, and there is a DVD of Kids in the Hall (we used to watch that all the time when we were first married - anyone remember that?)
There’s another note…
Almost done - hang in there dear
For soon my love will be quite clear
A gift or two to make you smile.
Your happiness is best
Your final quest to end this game
could be inside your chest.
I look in every chest/trunk in the house and finally in the dining room - a big box of chocolates!
What a Sweetheart!
I’ve been meaning to post some pictures of the studio for a while, just hadn’t had time. There are some updated shots at http://www.jottephotography.com/studio.htm

Had a bit of down time due to a nasty sinus infection. Can you believe this warm weather in MD? But it still looks so icky outside… So I told myself, before I begin to work today, I would go out with my brand new Nikon D3 and shoot in my own backyard…
and I think everyone at some point in their life should live “rural” ![]()
