Funny…

I spent the day preparing photos for clients, sorting through one of my hard drives, and answering emails.  While sorting through my hard drive, I came across a few pictures I took during spring break that I had forgotten about.  One afternoon, I found my son and daughter huddled around my daughter’s old dollhouse (that she NEVER used for people… it was always for animals…. my daughter hates dolls… hates them so much, that I actually saw her bring one out of the house that she wanted to put into our bonfire in the backyard to watch it melt…. the evil laugh after that is what kinda scared me a little….!!!??!!!!)

So what was with the dollhouse?  Hmmm….  well… I do have to admit, my children have always gotten along amazingly well and play very nicely together… they have an amazing ability to compromise! ;)

After the rain…

I can’t help it, I enjoy the spring storms we get.  Now ask me if I still like them three months from now, and I will probably be sick of them… lolol… but as of now, they are nice… comforting in a way, knowing that summer is coming.

Check out our little visitor in the front yard after the rain yesterday…

Spring has sprung….

Yesterday, I arrived at the news station in the morning, and wow… I had no idea I would get as nervous as I did. That was definitely an adventure. I am not meant to be in front of a camera, that’s for sure…. I will post the clip when I get it - they are mailing it out to me. My kids were thrilled - said it was cool to see mommy on TV… lol.

So spring has sprung… the big question is - can I keep up with my gardening this year? I have such high hopes to make my garden flourish beautifully but it never happens. This year my goal is to just keep a couple potted flowers alive on the front porch and to get some English ivy growing in an area on the side of our driveway - that stuff is really hard to kill, so I think I can do this! ;)

I’m a little rusty on the macros… I need some practice - it has been a while.

Sweet sleepy newborn…

So my husband is completely jealous that I have gotten to meet football players and their families for the past few months, and he has been so cute about it…. It has been an honor for me to work with these families and I am always thrilled with the results of the shoots…. :)

and what is that announcement? I’m going to be on TV tomorrow morning…. I am absolutely out-of-my-mind nervous!!! I am that personality type that doesn’t like crowds, would prefer to be the quiet one in the corner, and this is sooooo out of my comfort level. I am very excited to do be doing this, but it’s a scarey excited. I will post the time details tonight, but I will also see if I can get the clip to post here… that is, if I don’t embarrass myself too much! ;)

Watching a child grow….

I love repeat customers - I love seeing how much the children change! :) Just a quick one…look at this little beauty…

Stay tuned…. we have quite an announcement to make tomorrow…. let’s just say… I’m scared! ;)

The Big Book of Babies - PUBLISHED

This post is long overdue. 13 of my images are published in the Big Book of Babies edited by J.C. Suares. (Just to be clear, this is not my Lighting Book). This is a completely different book, 384 pages, as you can see from the following photos… available in your local book stores such as Barnes and Noble, Greetings and Readings, etc. as well as online.

Here’s to YOU Mr. Waste Disposal Management Guy….

Who in retaliation to the 14 bags of garbage in my front yard lined up for your removal, decided to build me this lovely monument - Here’s to YOU for making my dogs bark like maniacs for the last 30 minutes apparently thinking that the Mother Ship has indeed landed on the premises that they defend dearly from any intruder-like shape….

New Blog

We have a new address for this blog - please make note —– www.jodieotte.com

Thank you!!!!

Dean’s embarrassment explained.

For the workshop attendees, I told Dean about “beaver1″ that came up in Windows Media Player on the TV screen… he got super embarrassed and wanted to find out what that was.  He knew this was a “family” laptop and it couldn’t be anything bad.  I suspected it was a horrible song by Primus since he is so into music…. but it wasn’t…. and I laughed sooooooo hard when I found out what indeed it was….

What it ended up being is a sound byte.  Dean is such a nature freak that he was listening to sounds of animals he found on the net  - trying to match up what he hears outside…. and the hamster running on the hamster wheel in his head came across “beaver” and thought - what kind of sound do they make?  And here it is….

The “beaver1″  www.naturesongs.com/beaver1.wav

Okay, now, anyone that meets him in the future, ask him about “beaver1″ and watch his face get red…. lololol!

I told him I posted this, and he said, “I just can’t believe all you ladies…. I was trying to have a wildlife experience, and you all made me feel dirty….”

lolol!

WOW - First Workshop

WOW!  We had our first workshop at the studio yesterday.  All these women who came were absolutely amazing… everyone was so sweet and it was such a nice group.

Can I say I am completely overwhelmed?  I give it to people who do this all the time, but I came home, planning on doing a X-Files marathon with the kids, and crashed so fast…

Thank you to all the attendees.  If you have any questions or comments or anything, you can definitely feel free to email me at theblackhorsestudio@verizon.net or give me a call any time at 443.299.2752, I am more than happy to do any sort of followup.

And a very special thank you to Tracey Grumbach, Connie Groah, and Bernadette Chase for your help “behind the scenes” ;)  Oh, and Dean too! lol!

Happenings…

All voicemails and emails will be returned tomorrow (Thursday).  We have been in preparation for this weekend’s workshop at the studio.  Today, a lot of moving, etc. will be taking place at the studio.  We must transform it for all the attendees…

Speaking of attendees, I am soooo excited to meet everyone!  This will be the first time I have opened my studio up to fellow photographers.

How about a peek at the menu for Saturday’s lunch?  Brought to us by the Manor Tavern in Monkton.  The first time I ever visited the Manor Tavern was when I was pregnant with my son.  They have never disappointed me…

Strawberry Fields Forever — fresh romaine lettuce, strawberries, and caramel coated pecans tossed in a poppy seed vinaigrette.

Grilled Vegetables Sandwich — zucchini, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, Montery Jack and Swiss on focaccia bread.

Kansas City Roast Beef — roast beef topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, Montery Jack and Swiss cheese baked, served on ciabatta bread.

Chicken Caesar Wrap — grilled marinated chicken breast topped with Boursin cheese, romain lettuc and tomato in a tortilla wrap.

Spring Break wrapped up…

We wrapped up spring break… Friday after a shoot, I came home to find my daughter sprawled out in the middle of the driveway.  Apparently she saw some buzzards and thought that it would be a good idea to try to attract them (without success of course ;))… I often wonder where my kids come up with the things they do…. but then I realized my husband is standing there in his dress clothes from work with a big tear in the knee.  Apparently he decided it was a good idea to teach our son how to do an Ollie on a skateboard…. *sigh*

I did get two pictures of my kids - hadn’t done any studio images of them in some time…
