I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am in the new studio. I feel like I have so much new to work with now… It’s so much easier to utilize both studio and natural light in the same session. Here’s an example - check out this gorgeous new family, pregnancy and newborn.
Gorgeous. Yes, as absolutely stunning this baby is, she will have you all fooled in these pictures. She is up there as one of the top two most difficult newborn sessions I have ever had! This was the session that I didn’t get out of my studio until midnight…. yes, sure was! Could you guess this was the case? She just looks so precious, doesn’t she?… 
Yes we did… we curled a 5-1/2 week old baby on a saddle. Photographers know how difficult it is to curl a baby over 2 weeks old - well, it’s definitely not impossible.
Porcelain - that is the word to describe this baby’s beautiful face! She was so sweet and pleasant.
Besides wanting to show this gorgeous little girl - I wanted to discuss some misinformation out there in the photography industry. So many die-hard natural light photographers don’t believe you can have similar results with studio lighting as you can with natural lighting. I get this question during my workshops almost every time. Can you shoot wide apertures in studio? Absolutely!!!! So for all those photographers who know they need to start learning or utilizing studio lights due to conditions you face especially in the winter months, this post is for you! Here are some shallow depth of field, wide aperture newborn images done totally with studio lighting. I’ll be sharing more in the weeks to come. This is just one of the things I teach regarding studio lighting naturally.

Wow… this is a lot of babies this spring! I’m shooting 8 newborns next week, and another one was just born yesterday (congratulations Henry and Jennifer (sorry, I originally got couples mixed up!)!!!!)

Where have I been? Through a whirlwind of commercial shooting - major ad campaign, would love to share the images, but I can’t - they will be out for all to see soon, and I will be sure to update when I’ve spotted them - let me know when you spot them, and then I will start talking LOL
It was absolutely wonderful working with this company as well as the ad agency. What was it, two flew in from California, and four from Illinois? No pressure or anything ;). I loved every bit of shooting for those days and everyone was just amazing to work with.
Thank you to our four tiny models who put up with quite a lot of poking and prodding and shushing and rocking. Boy did I have a ton of laundry to do after all of that! And thank you to our tiny models’ parents who took some time out of their day to shoot with us!

Okay, so I have a lot of catchup to do on this blog, don’t I? Well, here’s a start, I will be back for more later. Today is “Family Day” and we need to get out and be a family and have some adventure. Sweet baby boy - I bought these hats months ago, and finally had a chance to use them in several sessions including this one - more to come - I have a bit of a backlog on proofing ;) So so many babies have been born lately! And no, this is not the “waited a year” image - that one is coming, I promise!

Welcome K!!! I love her name, I have not heard it before and I would love to say what it is, but I don’t share names of babies on my website unless they’re mine! :) I photographed her big brother a few years ago as a newborn as well. He was very timid around his little sister, I think his eyes tell all 
Blue-eyed Baby Boy… okay, I just had to say that because of all the Bs… What a sweetheart, and a thumbsucker - I love when babies suck their thumbs. My daughter did, and she was the most content and confident baby… I’m sure it is because they learn to self soothe. Do you see the blue eyes on him? Wow! And no, no photoshopping of the eyes - I’m not a fan of photoshopped eyes - I like children to look real and natural

So my husband is completely jealous that I have gotten to meet football players and their families for the past few months, and he has been so cute about it…. It has been an honor for me to work with these families and I am always thrilled with the results of the shoots….
and what is that announcement? I’m going to be on TV tomorrow morning…. I am absolutely out-of-my-mind nervous!!! I am that personality type that doesn’t like crowds, would prefer to be the quiet one in the corner, and this is sooooo out of my comfort level. I am very excited to do be doing this, but it’s a scarey excited. I will post the time details tonight, but I will also see if I can get the clip to post here… that is, if I don’t embarrass myself too much!
