Hard Boiled Eggs and the Instant Pot – Fresh Eggs
This was the #1 reason I chose to own an Instant Pot (or two). I read that I could take my brand new fresh eggs from the backyard chickens and hard boil them and they will actually peel.
Most people don’t realize that their eggs that they purchase from the grocery store are weeks old. There is a huge difference between freshly laid eggs and those in the grocery store. One major difference is that they are so fresh that you cannot hard boil and peel them like you can with the older store-bought eggs. This has always been a problem for us. We have tried all the other methods – different time, ice water, vinegar, baking soda, you name it. It doesn’t work.
The Instant Pot changed that for us.
Let me demonstrate.
I collected these eggs this morning right out of our chicken coop. You can use the trivet that comes with the Instant Pot but I prefer to use THIS….
I use the 5-5-5 method. Set the Instant Pot to 5 minutes manual, natural pressure release for 5 minutes, and 5 minutes ice bath.
Look at this! Perfectly peeled eggs.
The insides are also cooked perfectly.
This alone made our Instant Pot purchase worthwhile, but now I use the Instant Pot every single day.
